I had just laid THomas down for his morning nap (he had fallen asleep in my arms and so I KNOW that he was already asleep). I came out into the living room to pick up his toys and not even two minutes later I heard giggling and clinking sounds coming from his room. When I went to check on him this is what I found.... THomas was playing hoops and was so excited. My only question is how could he have been so grumpy only minutes before and now have been completely awake and rejuvenated? It must of been the two minute power nap! Thomas just makes us laugh all of the time. I have a feeling that this is only the beginning of our funny adventures with our sweet active little man!
We took Thomas to the Doctor on Monday for his 6 month (even though he is now 7 months) appointment and he is...
16.12 lbs which is about the 50 %
28 inches long which is about the 90 %
We live in an apartment complex that has quite a few Korean families. Most of them are young families with one or two children and the fathers are attending school at BYU-I. A lot of them go to the ward that Daniel and I are in and we are getting to know them slowly. It is really hard for me to remember their names because they all sound the same and are so unfamiliar to me, but we live next door to Jong and He Sook and have been able to talk to them a little bit (even though I don't know if we really understand each other most of the time). This last Saturday we went to our ward Christmas breakfast and Jong waved to us to come and sit at the table with his little family. We set our coats down and while we went to get our food the table filled up with the rest of the Koreans (they tend to gather together) and we were able to sit and eat with them. They spoke in Korean most of the time to each other and we of course didn't understand, but occasionally they would ask how old Thomas was and then say things like, "Oh BIG, BIG like his dad. Americans BIG" and "He tall only 6 months, he tall like his dad". We just laughed and said "yes" because I am sure that Daniel being 6'3" is huge to them and Thomas probably will be tall. His hands and feet are already so big so we will just have to see, we just know that we LOVE him just the way that he is and we are glad that he is healthy and strong!
-Now I know that I shouldn't of laid him down with his hoop in his crib...I just had forgotten to take it off after our game early in the morning. And I can't get a picture to download (our internet isn't the best quality) so you will just have to picture his cute smiling face looking up at me while he is slobbering and hanging on his hoop!

Sleeping = exercise
Ever since Thomas can sit up night time has become a nightmare. He wasn't ever a good sleeper but it has only gotten worse... imagine that! In the past week he has learned to pull himself up into the standing position. We finally had to lower the crib all of the way so he can't fall out. Putting him down and letting him fall asleep on his own is out of the question because he gets so excited to be standing and wont let himself fall asleep. One night he was sitting up "playing" and he was falling asleep sitting up because he wouldn't give in and just lay down. His head was bobbing and it would wake him up and make him mad. eventually he just laid down on his lap and fell asleep. It was so funny to watch we tried to tape it but it was too dark to see. This picture above is of a night that we heard him playing and playing and after about 45 min of checking on him we found him with his jammies unsnapped( how his chubby hands learned to undo all of his snaps remains a mystery) and his chubby little legs hanging out and he was just playing with one of Daniel's belts that was hung over his crib. ( I have tried to tell Daniel the crib isn't a clothes rack.... looks like he listened!) I knew that when I had a child that sleep wouldn't be the same as it used to... but I never knew it would be quite like this! Even though I miss sleeping when I want to sleep and sleeping in the night.... I couldn't wake up to a cuter face then his! As soon as he flashes that bright eyed smile at me all of my grumpy thoughts go away!
Thomas meets Santa
A few weekends ago the community was giving free rides at the city carousel. Santa Clause was there and Thomas got to meet him for the first time. He could of cared less. It was getting close to his bed time and he was far more interested in watching the carousel go around then to notice that a strange man was holding him. Since there were no tears I guess that means our first visit with Santa was a success! Then by the time we got on the carousel he had lost interest in that as well and decided he was tired and started to doze off. At least I had fun. I grew up riding on that carousel and I have a lot of memories there. It is right next to the where the swimming pool used to be. I took swimming lessons there and we also had a seasons pass and so I spent quality time basking in the sun, eating jolly ranchers, going down the slide with those foam mats, doing tricks off of the diving board, and begging my mom to let me ride on the carousel. That will always be a place that has "made Rexburg" what it is to me!

Guitars
Daniel plays the guitar very well... I can brag about him because he is my husband... He taught himself and he really just loves to sit down and play for himself. He picks it up for a few minutes everyday and just makes up little songs that are pretty funny. He has written quite a few real songs (not just the funny ones) and he will play for others entertainment...but I think he really does it for himself. He really has a very good voice as well I just wish he realized it! I just absolutely love listening to him, even though he thinks that I am not. I grew up in a home where music was a huge part of our lives and from 6 in the morning until 10 at night there was always one of the 7 kids practicing the piano, voice, violin, or just the radio blaring out our favorite song whatever it was that day. Daniel even bought me a guitar while we were dating and I know how to play a few chords but nothing special. I really hope that Thomas learns to love music as much as we have. So far he loves to hear Daniel play guitar and if he is close enough he will jump (literally he can't crawl yet but he jumps out of our arms to get what he wants) to touch it and strum a few strings. I know that you can't see his bright eyes and sweet face in this picture but I LOVE his chubby little hands that crawl over everything he touches and his ice cream swirl in his hair!
Scrub a dub dub
Thomas loves to take baths. When he hears us turn on the water his body gets all tense and wiggly and he tries to squirm his way out of our arms and into the water. He can hardly wait until we get his clothes off. At least he does...My mom has a picture of me in the tub with my clothes still on. Either I was really impatient or just could of cared less.
While Thomas is in the tub he tries to eat the yellow mat that he sits on and he usually drinks some water or gets bubbles all over his face. I can't wait to take him swimming and see how much he loves that!
Go to the fourth file on your comp and go to the fourth picture.
Here is what I came up with.
In the summer of 2006 I went to Hawaii for two months and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed it more as a vacation spot then a place that I would ever want to live. I lived in a house with 35 other girls and I worked at the Polynesian Cultural Center in the evenings and played at the beach during the day! I met some really great people while I was there and it was really good for me because it was the only time I have been away from Rexburg and my family. This is a picture of one of my favorite flowers over there. I am pretty sure it is ginger root but sorry if I am wrong. They had alot of different flowers then I am used to and I LOVED taking pictures of them.
I tag anyone that hasn't heard of this... and wants to do it! It is a good way to learn something new about you.
